This Fortified Land is the first issue of Squares - a series of photographic pamphlets documenting single psychogeographic walks.

Issue 1 charts a walk from Pevensey Castle to Pevensey Bay and along the coast. As I wandered I came across fortifications everywhere - the Roman ruins of the Anderitum fort with the crumbling medieval castle in its grounds and then along the coast, Martello Tower after Martello Tower. This land is fortified.
